With the true identity of communities consistently diluting, social interaction in today’s society has become not only a rarity, but an impossibility. While neighborhood after neighborhood is developed in isolated and distant locations, the transformation from a pedestrian to a motorist has redefined the reality of the “American Dream.” AB417 is a project attempting to create and sustain a dialogue in an effort to question the developments of our surrounding environment. This think tank does not exist in the realm of disgust or even disapproval; but more importantly this organization is founded on the inspiring power of the inquisitional, the observational, and interventional.

Throughout history the most dramatic changes in any culture have not been brought about by redirected policies or vague promises; the world’s most integral changes have been realized by one word – why?. Behind any true transformation is an inherent ability to challenge, to ask and to evaluate. This organization is not saturated with disgust or disapproval for the current condition of modern community society; it is simply driven by an unwavering desire to question... to inquire.

Observation




Observation is the inherent ability to sense and assimilate the knowledge of a phenomenon in the framework of previous knowledge or ideas. Throughout the history of man, gathering information in order to survive and improve upon everyday routine has always been a cyclical process. Whether searching for food or shelter, the defining characteristic in observation is that it ultimately involves drawing conclusions, which over time build our personal views about how to handle similar situations in the future. Instead of simply cataloguing an occurrence, observation allows us to change how we react to our experiences.

Intervention




The focus of this project is not to answer; really, it’s not even to question or observe. It is instead, to discover the proper attitude and disposition with which to approach our local environments. Yet the only way to accomplish this is to progress through the appropriate stages of problem solving: inquiry, observation and intervention. Change is inevitable – it happens at every moment in every place. Yet the way things change is completely variable upon change agents, or society’s individuals. In order for our communities to evolve both responsibly and productively, today’s change agents must be responsible and productive.
